Great news for Donington Park
Donington Park has been selected by the all-new FIA Formula E electric race car world series as its international base, and we are currently in construction, for occupation in the late Spring, of their new Operational Headquarters and central stores, together with 10 race preparation workshops for all ten contracted race teams from all over the motorsport world, who will be based here on our new Western Paddock Industrial Estate.
Once installed, the Series plans to commence the Formula E cars extensive testing programme here on this race circuit, in early June, prior to departing for their first race in Beijing in September.
This significant achievement for this resurgent Donington Park company has been made possible with strong support from the shareholders of our parent company, the Wheatcroft Group, and thanks to the commitment of Formula E Holdings. We have been assisted by UK Government support from their Growing Places Fund, the Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership, the MIA and North West Leicestershire Council.
Donington, at the heart of British motorsport, has been selected from worldwide and UK national competitors for this key role in the development of a critical new technology in a new form of motorsport.
We hope that, as this season develops, that we will be able to show you something of what is being built and operated here
