Important Announcement
Jan 7th 2017 - Silverstone Circuit - The David Compton Memorial Event
As most of our regulars will be aware, Dave Compton, one of our regular team members at Spa and a Silverstone marshall of some twenty eight years was tragically killed in a road accident in Belgium whilst travelling out to marshall the pit lane at RMA’s September Spa event. We had a collection at Spa and the following Silverstone event and raised an incredible amount of money thanks to some outstanding generosity.
In an attempt to help Dave’s family further and in recognition of Dave’s service to motorsport, Silverstone have very kindly provided the GP Circuit on Saturday January 7th. It is our intention to run a conventional track day where our services will also be donated free of charge. In addition, Silverstone marshals have offered their services as have the guys that run race control, the recovery vehicle driver and the medical team.
We are looking to offer this day at just £120 with £25 for additional drivers and £10 for passengers. Garages will be available free of charge on a first come basis, please be prepared to share. The idea is to try and raise £10,000 on the day, 100% of which will be given to Dave’s widow, however we need your help to legitimately avoid having to give 20% to the VAT man. Before we can start to take bookings, we need the services of a solicitor or accountant to handle the money in and out so nothing goes through RMA’s account, any volunteers? Please get in touch asap.
We’ll start taking bookings as soon as we have sorted out the VAT situation so watch this space!
Finally, if we don’t see you on Sunday everyone on the RMA team would like to wish you the very best for Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
